Why did the treaty of paris take so long to negotiate

The British crown was very reluctant to concede anything to the revolutionaries, let alone all of the territory that they eventually did. Most of the delays were caused by refusal of British officials to accept American demands, and refusal to offer any concessions. The treaty was only able to proceed after over a year of bickering.
