if a is equivalent to 48 they are asking you to substitute a by 48..So instead of taking a you use 48
48÷6 is equivalent to 8

so a divided by 6 is 8

Hope this helped have a good day and ask any further questions if necessary.. I could help...

a divided by 6

if a = 48 just replace that value for a so now you have 48 divided by 6 which equals 8
