Can be + or - , as V will be squared. When any -ve number is squared, it will become positive.

5v^2 + 25 = 115
5v^2 = 115 - 25
5v^2 = 90
v^2 = 90/5
v^2 = 18...take the square root of both sides eliminating the ^2
v = (+-) sqrt 18

v = 4.24 or v = -4.24
