she subtracted 6 from a certain number and then divided the result by 3, giving her 35.

(x - 6) / 3 = 35
x - 6 = 35*3
x - 6 = 105
x = 105 + 6
x = 111

so she should have subtracted 3, then divided by 6
(111 - 3) / 6 = 108/6 = 18 <===

Taking the answer 35 multiplying it by 3 and adding 6 would give the original number chosen.
(35 × 3) - 6 = 111
Original number chosen is 111.
Now perform the correct operations.
111 - 3 = 108
108 ÷ 6 = 18
The correct answer is 18

Hope it helped!
