The shortest known adult woman is about 24 inches tall and tallest known adult woman is about 92 inches tall. Write an absolute value equation that represents the minimum and maximum heights. Use x to represent the heights. I need to write an ABSOLUTE VALUE EQUATION, so like lx+ 24l=92 or something like that. I'm stuck.

Hi ,i think it is like this
1.92-24=58
2.58/2=34

Answer:

| x - 43 | = 58

Explanation:

Let y represents the standard height of an adult woman in inches,

Also, let h be the maximum vary in height,

So, maximum height = y + h

Minimum height = y - h

According to the question,

y + h = 92 ----(1)

y - h = 24 ---(2)

Subtracting equations (1) and (2),

2h = 68

⇒ h = 43

Adding equations (1) and (2),

2y = 116 ⇒ y = 58

Thus, the height can vary 43 inches,

Also, the standard height = 58 inches,

If x represents the height,

Thus, the required absolute equation that shows the given situation,

| x - 43 | = 58
