Sylvia wanted to find the total cost in easier way.
8 x 10 + 8 x 8 = 80 + 64 = 144
She used the Distributive property:
a x ( b + c ) = a x b + a x c
8 x 18 = 8 x ( 10 + 8 ) = 8 x 10 + 8 x 8 = 80 + 64 = 144
Answer:
Distributive property.
