2 ways we can do this is to write 49 as either 40+9 or 50-1

if we do 40+9
7(49)=7(40+9)=7(40)+7(9)=280+63=343

if we do 50-1
7(49)=7(50-1)=7(50)+7(-1)=350-7=343
