The steeply-sloping and slower-spreading parts of the mid-ocean ridge are called Oceanic ridges. These ocean ridges are the largest features in ocean basins, they are elevated regions with a central valley on the ocean floor at the boundary between two diverging tectonic plates where new crust forms from rising magma.
