How did the attiude of the conquistadors towards themselves and towards strangers affect the outcome of the spanish expedition

The conquistadors wanted wealth and fame and believed themselves to be the new nobility and they believed that the local native Americans were pagans and were less than human because they were not Catholic. They were just a bump in the road to their fame and fortune so they took care of them in a brutal manner.
