A lahar is a violent form of mudflow or debris flow that occurs after a volcanic eruption. It is made up of a slurry of hot material, water, and rocky debris. It flows down from a volcano along a river valley. It is the most deadly byproducts of the eruption because of the speed. It is caused due to melting of snow and glaciers by lava surge at the time of the volcanic eruption.
