Due to the study of contemporary paleolithic societies, a shift in historical thinking has occurred where people nowadays consider people during the Paleolithic era to have been far more culturally advanced as the "Original Affluent Society", whereby they survived not on scarcity, but a refined mode of subsistence, living from what they could find, and not overeating.
