width = w, length =l

l-4=w

2w+2l=perimeter=72

Substituting l-4 for 2, we get 2(l-4)+2l=72 and 2l-8+2l=72. After that, we get 4l-8=72 and 4l=80, getting l=20. Since l-4=w, w=16
