A ball is thrown straight up in the air from a height of 6 feet at a speed of 80 feet per second. The height of the ball in feet is given by -16t^2+80t+6 where t is the time in seconds. What is the height of the ball after 3 seconds?

Substitute 3 for t in the formula for height:


-16t^2+80t+6=-16(3)^2+80(3)+6=-144+240+6=102

The height of the ball after 3 seconds is 102 feet.
