How was the christian church organized by the fourth century?

Romans had developed their own government. Priests led parishes and group of parishes were led by a bishop. Christ bishops were known as popes in Rome. Romans believed the pope was the head of the church. The people on the other hand disagreed on how much power the pope had.


It was dominated in the 4th century by Constantine The Great.
