Superior, Michigan, Huron, Erie, and Ontario. Collectively, what are these lakes called? How did the involvement with Europeans in this region change how American Indians there lived?

Superior, Michigan, Huron, Erie and Ontario and collectively called the Great Lakes, found in northern USA. European explorers, primarily the french, were very interested in the rich resources of the region and started trade with the natives. They exploited inter tribal differences and sparked competition which lead to conflict between neighboring groups.
