Why was the roman empire divided into two sections?

Roman empire was such a gigantic kingdom in the history, it was in 285 CE that the empire had spread to the extent that it was not possible for the central seat of Rome to control and govern all the provinces. This lead Emperor Diocletian to divided the Roman Empire into two parts. The Eastern Part was controlled from Byzantium and the Western part from Rome.
