As we can see point E is between RT.

So we can write RE + ET = RT

As given RE = 4x+7 , ET = 2(3x - 4) and RT = 43.

So
4x+7 + 2(3x - 4) = 43


4x + 7 + 6x - 8 = 43

10x - 1 = 43


10x = 43 + 1


10x = 44


x = (44)/(10) = 4.4

So RE = 4*(4.4) + 7 = 17.6 + 7 = 24.6
