The ninety-five theses, officially entitled “Disputation on the Power and Efficacy of Indulgences,” was written by Martin Luther. It is a document that has an academic tone that had questions and propositions for debate. This document became the foundation of the Protestant Reformation. Its first two theses stated Luther's belief that God intended believers to seek repentance and that faith alone would lead to salvation.
