This is an example of vegetative propogation.

Vegetative propagation is the method by which a whole plant is grown from a single part of plant such as roots, stem, leaves, etc. In case of strawberry the runners of the plant is used to grow a new plant. These runners are called stolon which develops its own roots and when these adventitious roots are establish in soil the runners dry and the roots helps to develop a new plant.
