Micrometers
The term "microscope" literally means something that can see at the microscopic level. One micrometer is equivalent to 1/1000 millimeter, or 1/1000000 meters. An example of an object's dimension being measured in micrometers is the diameter of a human hair, which is about 50 micrometers on average.
