HIV or Human Immunodeficiency virus, is a virus in the retrovirus family. HIV is a pathogen that was first noticed west central Africa and was believed to have its origins of primates in the area before transferring via zoonosis to humans. It was first noticed in the US in 1981. HIV works by attacking the immune system directly, and while not directly threatening causes massive immunosupression.
