in an arithmetic sequence, u find the next term by adding a common number.
in a geometric sequence, u find the next term by multiplying by a common number

2,4,6,8.....ur adding 2 each time to find the next number...therefore, it is an arithmetic sequence with a common difference of 2

28,24,20,16 ....ur adding -4 each time...so this is an arithmetic sequence with a common difference of -4

2,4,8,16....ur multiplying by 2 each time to find the next term...so this one is geometric with a common ratio of 2

48,24,12,6....ur multiplying by 0.5 each time to find the next number...this one is lso geometric with a common ratio of 0.5

** in an arithmetic sequence, to find the common difference, subtract ur first number from ur second number
