Zionists wanted to create an independent country of Israel for all Jewish people. When it was created as a movement in the end of the 19th century, it started gaining supporters and grew, eventually fulfilling its goals after world war 2 when Britain declared that the Palestine territories would be given to the Israeli people for a state.
