Hello!

Slaves were used as cheap labor. In order for the plantation owners to make money, slaves were used as an efficient way to pick and sell cotton. Slaves were paid very little money which allowed the slave owners to make and save more money off of their plantations. Slaves also worked much faster than a plantation owner would on is own.
