To find the percent of something, you should multiply it by it's decimal value. In this case, 30% can be represented by 0.3. Knowing that, you can multiply 300*.3 and get 90.
Therefore, the director has used 90 units of the strip of film.

= 30/100 * 300

= 30 * 3

= 90

Film used = 90 meters.
