Compound is a subset of pure substance that is a combination of two or more elements with fixed ratio. Hence, it is incorrect to simply say that the compound is merely a combination or mixture of two or more elements, rather it is more correct to refer to compound as a pure substance with elements connected to each other through different kinds of bonds and are present in fixed ratio.
