What is the difference between open and closed primaries?

The refinement just changes which party's primary enlisted voters are permitted to vote in. An open primary enables any enrolled voter to cast her ticket in either gathering's essential, while closed primary commands that voters enlisted with a gathering vote in that gathering's essential.
