Populations of organisms that have sigmoid growth curves limited by the carrying capacity are called K-selected.
Species are divided into two selected species, R-selected species and K-selected species. K-selected species are also called K-strategist. These are the species whose populations vary at or near the carrying capacity (K) of the environment in which they live.
