The optic nerve is a group of nerve fibers that is cable-like which transmits and connects visual information from both eyes to the brain. It is primarily made up of retinal ganglion cell axons. This nerve would receive light signal from the rods and cones by the amacrine and bipolar cells. Then, the signals are being transmitted to the LGN or the lateral geniculate nucleus in which the signal is relayed to the left part of the brain or to the visual cortex wherein it is converted into image which we are able to see.
