The presence of Escherichia coli is identified in the blood cultures. In this case, the physician was able to diagnose Septicemia, blood infection, bacteremia, or blood poisoning. This happens when a bacterial infection from the other parts of the body, such as in the skin or lungs, enters our bloodstream.

Septicemia is normally quite severe. A lot of types of bacteria can cause septicemia, although, the exact source of this infection cannot be determined.

To add, this type of infection must be treated immediately in the hospital because it can quickly become life-threatening and if not treaded instantly, it can progress to sepsis.
