Whenever energy is transformed from one form to another (and this happens whenever energy is used), some energy always escapes as heat energy. Even when a machine is supposed to produce heat, some of the electrical energy escapes to the air around it. In every use or change of energy, some is “lost” as heat.
Examine some appliances around your house. Find the place on five appliances where the heat is released. In your journal, describe which appliances you looked at and what you found.
