First, find the area of the shaded region plus the white region, which is 5*10, or 50. Now find the white region only, which is 2*2, or 4. Now subtract 4 from 50 to get the area of the shaded region only. You will get 46. So 46 is your answer.

Hi!

To find the area of a rectangle, multiply base times height.

5 x 10 = 50

Now we need to subtract the area of the non-shaded part.

2 x 2 = 4
50 - 4 = 46

The answer is 46
