The Earth and Its Peoples: A Global History, Brief Edition, Volume I: It explained a sort of ceremony in the Babylonian New Year's Festival. The King leaves his scepter, the circle and the sword on the temple of Esagil. A priest would guide him on the things to do. The priest will take all these things inside the temple as the king prayed that he did not destroy Babylon. The priest would tell the king that the god Bel hears him and he would support the King's fight against his enemies. Soon the scepter, circle, and sword would be returned to him as he regains himself as king.
