ok, we know that for
y=ax²+bx+c
the x value of the vertex is -b/(2a)
so
y=1x²+14x+45
vertex is -14/(2*1)=-14/2=-7

sub back to find y value
y=(-7)²+14(-7)+45
y=49-98+45
y=-4
the vertex is (-7,-4)

some other points are
(1,60)
(-1,32)
(-8,-3)
(-9,0)

we see that the solutions to y=0 and y=x^2+14x+45 is at x=-9 and x=-5
