The purpose of ice core drilling is to analyzed trapped bubbles of atmosphere for OXYGEN ISOTOPES AND CARBON DIOXIDE. Ice cores are usually drilled by scientists in polar regions or high mountain areas in order to learn more about the earth's climate. The information obtained from this investigation can be used to predict the future earth's climate.
