I believe that the answer is A) equals. I think this because a "contemporary" is defined as "A person or thing which exists at the same time as you", and "divine providence" is referring to to God.

If you reread the passage now, it should make sense when read as "Accept the place that God has found for you, the society of your equals, the connection of events."
