The international peacekeeping organization which was formed directly after the end of World War II, was the United Nations. Its aims were to solve conflict between nations so as to prevent the outbreak of a war. Besides, this intergovernmental organization which replaced the ineffective League of Nations, has sought to pursue international peace and security by developing friendly relations among nations, protecting human rights, delivering humanitarian assistance as well as achieving international cooperation among its members.
