We can obtain 8% of a value by finding the 10% of the value and subtract 2% of the value

10% of 310 = 310÷10 = 31
1% of 310 = 310÷100 = 3.1
2% of 310 = 2×3.1 = 6.2

8% of 310 = 31 - 6.2 = 24.8

Use 1% or 10% to estimate 8% of 310
