If the shape of an object is irregular, like a stone, how can you measure its volume?

Fill the measuring cylinder with water and record it volume as V1
Then add stone in the cylinder by making sure that water does not exceed the calibrated readings on measuring cylinder and measure the V2
So
The volume of stone will be V3
That is V3= V2-V1
