The correct answer is A, lead to oppressive rule.  The framers of the Articles of Confederation designed a weak central government because they didn't want to experience the same kind of rule they did under King George.  The practice of slavery continued, and the states became involved in many foreign wars.  Trade was already strong due to the closeness of the states.
