The long-distance trade routes had given birth to acculturation to various cultures and practices.  Italy is one of the richest nation during the long distance trade. They were able to spread and introduce Christianity to various cultures during the trade. They traded spice with silk and other products. Spices is regarded as one of the most expensive commodity during this trade.
