The cells can become cancer cells.
Explanation;
Mutations are sudden, random changes that occur spontaneously in the genetic make up of an organism.
Mutation are caused by various factors which includes errors in meiosis, and other factors such as chemical mutagens.
When mutations in genes occur they can cause accelerated cell growth and division rates, or inhibit the control systems such as apoptosis thus causing cancer.
A mass of cancerous cells may then develop into a tumor.
