It ended when NATO intervened and made them ceasefire and recognize independence. 3 is in Cambodia. The government in Cambodia caused the deaths of many by ruining the economy completely which led to mass starvation and many people died because of the government policies. There was of course repressive army interventions against political opponents, but things like starvation were the primary source of death. According to UN, this wasn't done with the purpose of ethnic cleansing, but to remove political enemies.
