Osteomalacia is the disease known for softening of bones in adults. This is often caused by a vitamin D deficiency. This disease in children is known as Rickets which is more severe. Some symptoms to look out for are muscle weakness, body pains, and fragile bones. This deficiency is sometimes caused by a lack of sunlight or in some cases, diet.
