Vitamin C, or commonly known as ascorbic acid,is important for the synthesis of collagen. Collagen is the protein that makes up our skin, bones, cartilages and other connective tissues. When there is a deficiency in vitamin C, then our body lacks collagen. The visual result would be dry skin.
