Beck's cognitive therapy is particularly effective in the treatment of depression.
Dr. Aaron Beck formulated his theory about cognitive therapy back in 1960 when he wanted to find a way to cure depression. He wanted his patients to be able to find the reasons why their depression exists, and realized that it helped them greatly fight it off. They needed to change their state of mind, and his therapy apparently helped them, although it may not have completely cured their depression.
