When making a u-turn, you must be sure that there are no approaching cars within 200 feet. Making a U-turn means turning the car to 180 degrees on a street going to the opposite direction. To do it legally, there should be no prohibiting sign, you are in the far lane and there are no car within 200 feet from you.
