no idea about the units
but we can solve for x
so
remember you can do ANYTHING to an equation as long as you do it to both sides

so
try to get x by itself

2x-3=x+7
minus x both sides
2x-1x-3=-1x+1x+7
1x-3=0+7
x-3=7
add 3 to both sides
x+3-3=3+7
x+0=10
x=10

2x - 3 = x + 7
subtract x from both sides
x - 3 = 7
add 3 to both sides
x = 10
