Anti-epileptics may work by restoring the balance between the neurotransmitter systems in the amygdala. They are also known as anticonvulsants. These are drugs that are used in treating seizures. These drugs would supress the rapid firing of the neurons when in seizure. Also, it prevents the spread in the brain.
