What is ares cultural significances to greek mythology?

Ares is the Greek God of War. As a son of Zeus, he was often summoned and prayed to by soldiers during war for guidance, protection and exclusivity from fear. He was commonly known for being extremely ruthless and cruel to any who wronged him.
